We need volunteers for the new cat center at Petco in Lake Zurich!  Volunteer duties are listed below.  We are looking for 1 volunteer at a time, and we need to have someone there twice a day.  This does not need to be the same volunteer.  This should be a morning and an afternoon/evening shift.  

Saturday's are the only exception because we DO have a required shift.  Saturday's are adoption days and we need to have a volunteer there from 9am-12pm for one of the shifts. 

If you would like to help, please let us know when you are available to volunteer about 2 hours of your time so we can create a schedule.  Dawn and Nancy will be making this schedule, so please email both of them with your availability/request at info@yahpetrescue.com (Dawn) and nancyh@yahpetrescue.com (Nancy). 

Per Petco, must be 18 or older to volunteer. 

July 10th is the anticipated first day.

Petco's Business Hours are:

Monday - Friday 9AM - 9PM - 1st and 2nd shift scheduled per volunteer availability

Saturday 9AM - 9PM - Mandatory shift 9am-12pm, 2nd shift per volunteer availability

Sunday 10AM - 6PM - 1st and 2nd shift scheduled per volunteer availability

Job Details are:

Let kitties out one at a time for exercise and play, clean litterboxes, refill food and water bowls, remove dirty linens and replace with clean ones, wipe down cat condos. Must allow public to see the cats while you are there, answer questions about the adoption program and cats, and make sure all cats are put back in condos before leaving. Must be able to handle cats with and without claws, some will not want to go back into the condo. Must look over each cat while you are handling it and note any worrisome features- goopy eye, dirty ears, claws need trim, sneezing, vomiting, etc and alert the cat center coordinator.

We are required to have volunteers there twice a day, so if you can't come, you need to let us know ASAP!

Schedule will be posted at the adoption center as well. Volunteers will have to wear a Young at Heart volunteer badge while working (provided by rescue).
